ARTIST STATEMENT
In 2020 I began to photograph flower portraits. I posed cut flowers with various backgrounds and reflective surfaces. Light painting techniques make the images more dramatic. I experimented with different types of light sources, light  movements and timing, and under/over exposures.

Next I moved my floral photography underwater into an aquarium. Inks and paints are injected to swirl around the flowers, creating drama and atmosphere. There is a 1 to 2 minute window where I can get a clear shot before the water becomes too murky. This makes for a quick, tense, energetic shooting session. Sometimes I get nothing, and sometimes I get magic! I call this new series, Submerged.

BIOGRAPHY
I earned an MFA from Pratt Institute in Art to Wear Jewelry Design. My jewelry was featured in many national and international exhibitions and galleries. But I have always taken photos. I switched to photography as my main medium about 10 years ago. My photos have been published in a book on Yosemite and featured on several travel websites.
